James Sherrod spent decades working to improve Erie.

Now his contributions have been memorialized via a ceremonial street naming on the city's west side.

Erie City Council on Dec. 3 unanimously approved a resolution that designates Chestnut Street between West Third and West Fourth streets as “James C. Sherrod Way“ in honor of the longtime executive director of Erie's Bayfront NATO Inc./Martin Luther King Center .
