The Casper City Council has provisionally chosen Ray Pacheco to serve as mayor for 2026 following its annual December straw poll on Tuesday. Council member Kyle Gamroth was likewise provisionally selected to serve as vice mayor.
Interim City Manager Zulima Lopez said the informal vote is held each December to anticipate who will be formally elected when the council selects its leadership at its first meeting in January. “This poll helps us prepare for the likely mayor and vice mayor,” Lopez said. “It allows us to prepare documents with the appropriate signatures ahead of the new year.”
Pacheco, who represents Ward 3, was first elected to the council in 2014 and has since been re-elected twice. Gamroth, representing Ward 2, won a second four-year term on November 5, 2024.
