In the same month that the Boston restaurant scene received its first-ever slate of Michelin stars and honors , one of those recommended restaurants is being sued by servers who claim they were shorted on tips they earned.
Three employees of La Padrona , an upscale Italian restaurant located in the Raffles Hotel in Back Bay, filed a class-action lawsuit on Nov. 28 against the eatery’s owners.
Bartender Kelsey MacKinnon and servers Clara Herman and Nadia Agourram claim in the suit that they were forced to share their tips with both managers and employees who never interact with customers.
According to the complaint, bartenders and servers are paid a below-minimum, tipped wage and share all tips through a tip pool, which is then distributed based on the number of hours each employee w
