COOKVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A house in western Putnam County was left heavily damaged by a fire early Tuesday morning.

The Putnam County Fire Department reported that crews responded to a residence on Autumn Woods Trail at about 5:30 a.m. and found the back of the house heavily involved.

The heavy flames forced firefighters to establish a defensive attack along the perimeter of the property, employing an “apparatus deck gun” to suppress the fire, according to Putnam County FD.

It took firefighters more than three hours to bring the fire under full control, Putnam County FD reported.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was brought in to assist with the fire investigation. The cause is believed to have come from underneath the back deck of the house, according to the report.
