Shillong, Dec 3: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday stated that global companies are sourcing high-end solutions from Meghalaya, noting that a key module used in the S/4 HANA Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) migration sector was developed in Shillong by a local engineer.

Addressing the Regional AI Impact Conference here, Sangma said the industry is valued at around USD 10 billion. “Even a ten percent share of this market has the potential to generate up to Rs 9,000 crore in business and create thousands of jobs for our young people,” he said.

Stating that Meghalaya is steadily emerging as a leader in the IT sector in the Northeast and advancing its capabilities in AI, he said the State is leveraging technology for governance.
