The state prison in Chester will hold a escapee drill Thursday.

The city reports that SCI Chester will hold a drill Thursday morning simulating a response for an escaped prisoner.

Officials said the event will begin at 10:45 a.m. at the prison, 500 E. Fourth St. It is a training exercise to ensure strong emergency response.

The prison, which currently houses 1,148 inmates, sits on about 14 acres and employs just under 400 staff.

City officials remind residents that if they see activity at the site Thursday it is a drill, not an actual emergency.
