Brookfield Asset Management Ltd will cease operating a series of troubled roads in Peru’s capital city at the end of Wednesday, after running out of cash due to court orders that suspended collection of toll payments.
Brookfield’s subsidiary, Rutas de Lima, has been mired in conflict with the city of Lima for years, which alleges the toll roads concession was obtained through corruption under previous ownership and should be revoked. The roads involved are the two main highways in and out of Lima.
