BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - In a packed courtroom at the 19th Judicial District Courthouse, supporters of Lee Lucas gathered and passed out flyers as they demanded another look at his criminal murder case.
Commissioner Kina Kimble listened to arguments, and in an extraordinarily rare situation, Lucas sat next to his defense lawyers and argued with prosecutors using legal jargon. Lucas showed he had studied case law that was applicable to his case.
Kimble even asked him to repeat several of the cases he cited in court.
The hearing on Wednesday, Dec. 3, follows a protest in June where numerous people gathered in the rain demanding a court hearing after supporters alleged he was convicted based upon a forged indictment.
