A North Carolina disaster relief organization’s plane was the target of a hijacking attempt Tuesday in South Sudan, the group said.
The armed hijacker was taken into custody after the plane landed thanks to “swift action” by security forces, Samaritan’s Purse said in a statement Wednesday.
The Caravan airplane was delivering medicine to Maiwut, South Sudan, when the hijacking incident took place, the group said. A pilot and a crew member were on board.
The pilot landed in Wau, South Sudan, where authorities took the hijacker into custody, said the group, which is based in Boone, North Carolina.
