A Sudbury college student was part of a delegation of Canadian youth who convened at Parliament Hill earlier last month for a rare learning opportunity.
Jamie Hopkins, 20, participated in the first-ever Youth Parliament of Canada , a bilingual parliamentary simulation organized by CIVIX and designed to inspire a new generation of engaged citizens and future leaders. From Nov. 6 to 10, a group of 75 youth from across the country debated national issues, drafted policy proposals and met with MPs, senators and senior political staff for a behind-the-scenes look at federal politics. Hopkins was one of two young people representing Northern Ontario, the other being from Blind River.
