The Brockville Police Service’s latest quarterly statistics show a year-to-date drop in a majority of crime categories, although total calls are up.

The third-quarter crime statistical report, discussed at Tuesday’s meeting of the Brockville Police Services Board, compares crime numbers for the period from January through the end of September, for this year and last.

The figures show significant drops in some crime categories, notably sexual offences, where the year-to-date total fell from 49 last year to 24, a decrease of 51 per cent. “Sexual offences” is a category that encompasses sexual assault, as well as offences such as invitation to sexual touching and the sending of inappropriate messages.
