After the 49ers voided the remaining guaranteed money on Brandon Aiyuk’s contract, it seemed like the wide receiver played his last down for San Francisco.

General manager John Lynch was asked if he had a “realistic belief” that Aiyuk would play in the 2025 NFL season Tuesday on KNBR’s “Murph and Markus.”

“Realistic – I’m not sure,” Lynch said. “Hopeful – yeah. I think that’s where I leave that...”

"... I've always said, we're a better football team when Brandon’s out there. I hope that’s the case. But I think that’s probably what it is, hope, right now. I wish it were a little bit more than that.”
