CLARENDON HILLS, Ill. — A suburban Chicago family returned home Monday afternoon to find a thief in their driveway, stuffing holiday packages into a red DoorDash bag.
Sarah Depasquale said the suspect fled about 30 seconds into the robbery when her family pulled into their driveway just before 4 p.m. Even with the family in the driveway, the porch pirate was able to get away with the family's packages.
"He started sprinting the minute he saw us pull in and I was like, 'That's an odd reaction for a DoorDash driver,'" Depasquale said.
Ring doorbell footage shows the man walking up to the home carrying the delivery bag to disguise himself before taking packages worth approximately $500.
The stolen items included children's winter boots, dog-walking gear and custom ornaments memorializing
