Nearly half of the packaged foods listed on India’s quick commerce and online grocery platforms are identified as junk, high in fat, sugar, salt (HFSS), or ultra-processed foods (UPFs), according to a LocalCircles survey. The study, involving over 24,000 parents of Gen Z youth across 277 districts, found that 39% of these households reported that their young family members regularly purchase these unhealthy foods online.

This includes popular items like soft drinks, chips, instant noodles, cakes, chocolates, and ice creams. The survey highlights not just the prevalence but also the growing concern among parents about the health impacts of such foods.
