COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State offensive coordinator Brian Hartline is heading south to become the next head coach at South Florida.
South Florida posted on X announcing Hartline will be the team's next head coach.
Hartline will replace former South Florida head coach Alex Golesh, who left to become the head coach at Auburn.
Head coach Ryan Day said on Wednesday that Hartline will stay with the team through the College Football Playoffs. While acknowledging the timing isn’t the best, Day is happy for Hartline and glad he is getting the opportunity.
“He’s put a lot of hard work here at Ohio State as a player and now as a coach,” Day said. “I think he’s gonna do great. I think it’s a great opportunity for him and looking forward to see how he does.”
