Housing is the biggest recruitment challenge for employers in Timmins and area, according to a recent survey.

The Far Northeast Training Board’s most recent employer survey shows 43 per cent of survey respondents cited housing as their biggest recruitment and retention challenge, followed by daycare (24 %) and transportation (21%).

Julie Joncas, the board’s executive director, says the housing issue is raised in all communities across the region as an obstacle to attracting workers.

“I would say that all industries are affected, whether for highly skilled positions or entry-level positions. The shortage affects both those wanting to purchase and those who want to rent,” Joncas wrote The Daily Press.
