LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced she secured a preliminary injunction Wednesday that prevents the Trump Administration from defunding Planned Parenthood and other health centers.
The injunction, ordered by a federal court on Dec. 2, specifically blocks a section of the GOP-backed "One, Big, Beautiful Bill Act" that prohibits federal Medicaid funds from being used to pay nonprofit health care providers that meet other criteria, including providing abortion services "in cases other than that of rape, incest, or life-threatening conditions for the woman."
Now, that funding stream has been temporarily opened back up following the court order, following a seven-day administrative delay to allow for the federal government to appeal.
