WASHINGTON — U.S. REP. YVETTE CLARKE, who represents Central Brooklyn , on Wednesday led 43 colleagues in a letter to House and Senate Armed Services Committee leadership urging that the federal government not impose moratoriums on states’ ability to enforce their own artificial intelligence regulations, as the committees hash out the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026.

“Unless and until Congress acts in a comprehensive manner – including to address algorithmic harms and bias – state laws are the only recourse American consumers have for protecting themselves and their data from Big Tech and the multitude of potential harms caused by AI,” the letter said.
