UMATILLA, Ore. – A deadly crash on Highway 395 near Umatilla resulted in the death of a woman on Monday, December 1.

Breann Hailey Mayberry, 31, of Umatilla, was found dead on the northbound shoulder of the highway, Oregon State Police (OSP) said in a release.

Investigators said evidence at the scene suggested that a white commercial motor vehicle was involved and had fled before troopers noticed a white Freightliner commercial vehicle and trailer being towed.

The damage matched the scene evidence, leading to the seizure of the vehicle, OSP said.

A Yakima man was later arrested on a charge of failing to perform duties as a driver, OSP added.

The highway was closed for about five hours during the investigation.
