SALEM, Ore. — The state of Oregon has either helped build or paved the way for the development of 54,000 new homes since Gov. Tina Kotek took office in January 2023, the governor's office said Wednesday.
Upon taking office, Kotek set a target of building 36,000 new units each year, based on the state's existing deficit and anticipated future need. The governor's office presented the new data on housing production as a sign of progress on the state's long-term housing development slump, and the need for much more work.
