Syracuse, N.Y. ― Winter weather advisories have been issued for much of Central New York as more lake effect snow is expected to hit the region Thursday.
The advisories are for Onondaga, Madison, Oswego, Jefferson and Lewis counties.
Total snow accumulations between 3 and 5 inches are expected in some areas by the end of Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will produce blowing and drifting snow.
In Onondaga and Madison counties, the advisory goes into effect at 7 a.m. Thursday and will end at 7 p.m. Thursday, according to the weather service.
If snow squalls develop, they are expected late morning through the afternoon, according to the weather service.
For the counties further north of Syracuse, the snow could start on Wednesday night
