Orchard Park, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills claimed and were awarded former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Darius Slay off waivers on Wednesday after the veteran was released on Tuesday.

Slay recently fell out of favor in Pittsburgh and was a healthy scratch by coach Mike Tomlin last Sunday in the Steelers’ 26-7 loss to the Bills. The Bills are healthy at cornerback at the moment, but Slay provides veteran depth in case they’re hit by an injury at the position.

The Bills had to make room for Slay on their 53-man roster and released longtime cornerback Ja’Marcus Ingram. He’s been a healthy scratch the past few games and has contributed chiefly on special teams during his career. The Bills will likely try to re-sign him to their practice squad in the coming days.
