Vandenberg Guardians and Airmen are scheduled to support a second launch this week, on Thursday morning when a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to lift off from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4) to carry 28 Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit.
Liftoff is estimated for 10:12 a.m. to 2:12 p.m. Launch dates and times are subject to change at any time due to mission requirements.
Officials report that residents in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties may hear one or more sonic booms 8-10 minutes post-launch, with the greatest likelihood of audibility in the Montecito, Carpinteria, and Ojai areas. What residents experience will depend on weather and other conditions, they noted.
Areas local to Vandenberg Space Force Base will hear the initial low rumble of take-off
