SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - A major step forward is being taken in offering affordable housing to Palmetto residents.
Habitat for Humanity received approval late last month to build 20 two-story, single-family townhomes near downtown Palmetto.
The townhome units are set to be built in proximity to downtown, with access to stores like Publix and local restaurants.
The homes will be built on a nearly 2-acre lot along 11th Street West. near Publix and the Palmetto Mobile Home Club.
The two-story homes will have three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
According to Habitat for Humanity, they will be built with hurricane-resistant features and metal roofs.
