SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - A South Bend man received $10,000 in donations over 48 hours after a photo of his damaged truck sparked a community fundraising effort.
Marcellus Riles, a part-time cashier at a store on the south side of South Bend, owns a truck with a tilted body, dangling taillight and damage on both sides. Despite the condition, Riles said he drives the vehicle safely.
“Yes, because I know the vehicle. And I’m retired. So, I’m not in a rush when I go places. And I take the roads less traveled,” Riles said.
The fundraising effort began after a photo of the truck was posted on social media last Saturday. Colin Crowel, owner of Car Guys Auto Detailing, saw the post and decided to help.
