CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Cedar Rapids police reported significant crime reductions across several categories through November 2025, along with highlighting the need for scam prevention.

From January through November 2025, police recorded 39 shots fired incidents, according to new crime statistics. This is a 15 percent decrease from the same time period in 2024, when there were 46 incidents.

The 2025 shots fired incident numbers show an even more dramatic decline when compared to the five-year average of 101 incidents, representing a 61 percent drop.

Police say there was a continued decrease in the number of vehicles stolen and property crime. There has also been a drop in shoplifting due to improved retail security, according to authorities.
