JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - Organizers of a clothing swap say the snow is stopping people from donating.
Johnson County Conservation’s second clothes swap is Saturday, but the group is short on donations from what it has been expecting.
“It’s such a busy time of year where people are spending a lot already,” said Michelle Wiegand, who started Johnson County Conservation’s clothes swap in January.
At the time, the clothes swap collected 2,000 pounds of donated clothes over the course of a week before donating them all for free.
“Personally I know that I have two kids, and I know that I wouldn’t have been able to do the things that we do without getting a lot of hand-me-downs from friends,” Wiegand said.
For her second clothes swap, she decided to switch the schedule.
