Imphal, December 03 2025: Students of Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Kongpal Kongkham Leikai, formed a human chain in front of their school today, demanding the translation of academic textbooks into Manipuri language.

Organised under the aegis of the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), the demonstration saw students holding placards inscribed in Meitei Mayek and raising slogans for the protection and promotion of the Manipuri language among other demands.

Speaking to the media on the sideline, MSF joint secretary Warish Akram said that while the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 promotes teaching in local languages, there is a lack of concrete action to make Manipuri textbooks widely available.

He recounted that the MSF had submitted a memorandum to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhal
