This is not a great time for the Mets to need a center fielder.

The free agent market is thin enough to inspire Ozempic rumors. Cody Bellinger is the best available, but at 30 he is probably better off in a corner outfield spot or at first base.

Last season’s offensive uptick did not shake Harrison Bader’s glove-first reputation. The next-best available might have been Cedric Mullins before the Mets flop reportedly agreed to a deal with the Rays on Wednesday.
