DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Hundreds of volunteers spent the day giving back across the Northland.
It was the head of the lake united way’s day of caring.
Volunteers spread out at non-profits across the region, running donation drives or completing projects.
That included Chum’s warming center in Duluth.
There, volunteers mopped, painted, and even decorated the space for the holidays.
The warming shelter has seen an uptick of people who are staying overnight, with nearly 100 compared to the 65 this time last year.
Knowing that, Chum leaders say they were extremely grateful for the extra hands today.
