NEWBURYPORT — Gathering for a special meeting tonight, the City Council is expected to vote on Mayor Sean Reardon’s supplemental budget appropriation request, proposed tax rates, and discuss a possible new human resources director.

Reardon’s supplemental budget request for fiscal 2026 totals $343,506 and is funded through $224,725 in excess levy capacity and $118,781 in increased local aid in the final state budget. The request was introduced at the council’s Oct. 27 meeting and sent to the Budget and Finance Committee.
