NORTH HUNTINGDON, Pa. —

A Westmoreland County couple is facing charges after police say they took two children with them to purchase illegal substances.

The Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office said North Huntingdon police conducted a traffic stop after a vehicle driving on Route 30 changed lanes without a turn signal and was following another vehicle too closely during wintry conditions.

As officials pulled the vehicle over, they said a child, later identified as a 7-year-old, was seen moving around the vehicle without a seat belt.

Police spoke to the passenger, who was identified as Chelsey Palko, 35. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Gregory Carvallis, 34.
