The Nawab of Najafgarh played one of his most iconic innings in Test cricket at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The swashbuckling opener faced just 254 deliveries in an extraordinary display of stroke-making, smashing 40 fours and 7 sixes.
But he fell short of becoming the first player to hit three Test match triple centuries.
Coming out to bat with hosts trailing by 393 in the first innings, Sehwag turned the game on its head with another trailblazer start to an Indian innings.
