A mountain lion sighting in Duluth led several schools to be placed under “Secure Status” on Wednesday.

A representative from Duluth Public Schools confirms they received information from a neighbor near Ordean East Middle School that there was a mountain lion in their yard, about a half-mile from the school.

From there, the district put the school into “secure status,” which means they brought everyone inside as a precaution. Due to the school's proximity, the district also put Congdon Park Elementary into a “secure status” as well.

The safety protocol was lifted Wednesday afternoon after about 40 minutes.
