BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky Republican lawmakers met in Bardstown to plan their agenda for the 2026 legislative session, with education, housing issues and artificial intelligence emerging as key priorities.

Senate leaders gathered at My Old Kentucky Home to discuss policy initiatives ahead of the 60-day session that begins Jan. 6 and runs through April.

“We are here for a couple of intense meetings with our caucus members to hear what their ideas are,” said Sen. Robbie Mills, R-Henderson.

Housing and regulatory reform

Republicans plan to address housing concerns through regulatory changes. Mills said the agenda includes “removing outdated regulations that increase cost, allowing single stair designs possibly, expanding the use of qualified 3rd party inspectors.”
