New Delhi, Dec 04: In an effort to enhance fairness in Tatkal ticketing, the Railway Ministry has initiated a one-time password (OTP) verification system for passengers purchasing Tatkal tickets at reservation counters.
Launched on a pilot basis on November 17, this system initially covered a few trains and has now expanded to 52, with plans for wider implementation. Passengers must provide a mobile number to receive an OTP during the booking process, which must be verified for the ticket to be issued.
This measure aims to combat ticket manipulation by touts and ensure that genuine travelers benefit from last-minute availability.
The OTP system complements earlier reforms, including Aadhaar-based verification for online bookings, thus reinforcing transparency and convenience in ticket
