OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - The Ottumwa Fire Department has implemented new service fees for building inspections and certain emergency responses.
The fee structure outlines specific charges for building inspections and fire-related incidents based on building size and risk level.
Annual inspections now range from $250 for smaller buildings to $650 for facilities that are 100,000 square feet or larger.
“We have found there are a lot of properties that need to make improvements, fix things that would make them safer and by getting the fees associated with it. We’re going to be able to get out more and get into some of those buildings,” said Chief Sean Canto of the Ottumwa Fire Department.
