TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Construction is underway for a new park in the San Xavier District designed to manage flooding in the area. The Wa:k Community Park is located near the intersection of San Xavier and Little Nogales Road.

Melissa Moreno, a resident of the Wa:k Community for more than 40 years, highlighted the dangers of flooding in the area.

"It's scary because the waters are strong," Moreno said.

Moreno explained that flooding often reaches a point where residents cannot safely drive away, particularly at the intersection of San Xavier and Little Nogales Road.

"When the waters run we often get stuck and we can't leave our homes and it's limited going to work or going to school," Moreno said.
