Two Michigan lake sturgeon rehabilitation programs reached significant milestones this fall in the marathon effort to restore the Great Lakes giants.

In Cheboygan County's Black Lake, home to a short annual winter sturgeon fishing season, Michigan State University and the Department of Natural Resources fisheries workers found a female sturgeon that had returned to the connecting Upper Black River to spawn.
