WASHINGTON – The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday passed legislation by Rep. Dave Joyce that would block public elementary and secondary schools from accepting funds from the Chinese government or entering into contracts with entities tied to the Chinese Communist Party, approving the measure by a vote of 242- 176.

The Combating the Lies of Authoritarians in School Systems (CLASS) Act, introduced by Joyce, a South Russell Republican, with fellow Ohio Rep. Michael Rulli of Salem, targets Confucius Classrooms that have been established in some American schools through China’s Ministry of Education.
