An earthquake has rattled north-west England, startling scores of residents from their sleep as buildings trembled. The 3.3-magnitude tremor occurred in Lancashire during the night.
According to initial data, the seismic event commenced at 11.23pm on Wednesday evening, December 3. Numerous individuals have described being roused by the sensation of their properties vibrating.
The British Geological Survey (BGS) confirmed the tremor was "felt across the South Lakes and Lancashire, mainly within 20km of the epicentre, including Lancashire, Kendal and Ulverston". Available data indicates the earthquake originated off Silverdale's coastline at a depth of 1.86 miles (3km).
