Pilot associations said the flight delays and cancellations by IndiGo raise questions about the airline’s management and Director General of Civil Aviation’s regulatory oversight.
The associations issued statements even as large scale flight cancellations persisted for a third day in the row at Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune and other cities.
“All airlines including IndiGo were aware of the revised flight duty limitation norms issued by the DGCA in January 2024 (with a phased implementation). Despite sufficient time being accorded most airlines started preparing rather late failing to adjust crew rosters 15 days in advance as required. This suggests an initial managerial underestimation or delay in strategic planning which was necessary to provision crew accordingly,” Captain Sam Thom
