The Government has issued an update regarding the assessments that certain benefit recipients must undergo. The announcement followed a parliamentary question from SNP MP Chris Law to the DWP concerning Work Capability Assessments (WCA). These evaluations are designed to establish how significantly a person's medical condition impacts their capacity to work, to work out how much benefits they should get.

Mr Law specifically asked as of late October 2025, how many existing claimants awaiting WCA appointments with provider Maximus had experienced at least one cancelled assessment. He also wanted to know how many had endured at least two cancellations, and the number facing more than two appointment cancellation
