Aiden Markram, key player in South Africa’s series-levelling victory in the second ODI against India, emphasized the importance of scoring runs only if the team wins. He expressed a sense of responsibility for the team’s narrow defeat in the first ODI.
Markram’s 110 on Wednesday set the stage for South Africa’s four-wicket triumph in chasing a target of 359. In contrast, he had a poor performance in the first ODI at Ranchi, which India won by 17 runs.
“Runs only matter if you win games, to be fair, or at least for me. If we’d lost today, I’d be as miserable as I would have been in the previous game. Getting the result is something that makes me really happy," Markram told the media in Raipur after the match.
