Bhadrak : In a shocking incident, a person allegedly set his mother on fire as the latter declined to give money for liquor consumption. This incident took place at around 8 am at Galaganda village under Tihidi police limits in Bhadrak district.

According to reports, the accused, Debashish Nayak (45), is a regular substance abuser. He reportedly beat his mother, Jyotsnarani Nayak (65), and poured petrol on her, setting her ablaze when she fell to the ground. The neighbours heard the commotion and rushed to the scene, and the mother was rescued and taken to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital in a critical condition.

Later, she was referred to Cuttack’s SCB Medical College and Hospital as her condition deteriorated.
