A holiday has been declared for schools in Chennai and Tiruvallur on Thursday as the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted another day of heavy rains in various parts of Tamil Nadu. The weather agency has predicted very heavy rainfall in north coastal Tamil Nadu region.

The district administrations of Chennai and Tiruvallur have declared a holiday for schools alone in the respective districts. However, no holiday has been declared for colleges or other educational institutions. A holiday has been announced consecutively for a second day as a precautionary measure.
