Ilaiyaraaja songs copyright row: Legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja has formally resolved his copyright battle with the producers of the Tamil films Good Bad Ugly and Dude, ending months of litigation over the unauthorised use of five of his songs. The settlement was confirmed on December 3, after production house Mythri Movie Makers agreed to pay the music maestro Rs 50 lakh as compensation.

A joint memo submitted before Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy stated that the Hyderabad-based studio transferred the settlement amount via RTGS after deducting 10% TDS. The payment covered the unauthorised use of three Ilaiyaraaja compositions in Good Bad Ugly and two songs in Dude.

The settlement brings the dispute to a close and ensures that both parties avoid prolonged legal proceed
