WASHINGTON - Great Lakes Cheese Co. Inc., a manufacturer based in Hudson, has issued a voluntary recall for shredded cheese products distributed nationwide due to the potential presence of metal fragments.
The recall affects approximately 1.5 million bags of shredded cheese sold under more than two dozen private-label and store brands at major retailers, including Walmart, Target, and Aldi. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration classified the action as a Class II recall, indicating that while exposure to the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, the probability of serious health issues is remote.
