Puttur, Dec 4: A special team led by Mangaluru Lokayukta Police DySP Dana Gana P Kumar visited the municipality office and collected related documents on Wednesday.

Under the garbage disposal contract, the municipality had hired seven trucks. However, only two vehicles were actually used, while fake bills were allegedly generated for the remaining five vehicles to siphon off public funds.

The complaint regarding this scam was originally filed in 2021 by former city council member Mohammed Ali with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

The then Municipal Commissioner Roopa Shetty, Senior Health Inspector K. Ramach, temporarilyIsaac S, and Accounts Chandrarama Devadiga were named as key accused.
