Scottish investor William Alan McIntosh has given £100,000 to Reform UK , according to new figures from the Electoral Commission.

The money from the founder of Emerald Investment Partners is the fifth biggest donation to Nigel Farage ’s party in the last quarter, but is dwarfed by the £9 million donation handed over by businessman Christopher Harborne in August.

That helped push the party’s fundraising far ahead of both Labour and the Conservatives.

Meanwhile, the SNP has reported no major donations.

Most of the money received by the party came from Short Money, public cash given to all opposition parties in the Commons with two or more MPs, and two policy development grants from the Electoral Commission.

The five cash sums registered come to a total of £225,104.
